Creativity Is The Key To Unlock The Best In People
Integrated Learning Strategies is excited to feature how to unlock creativity in kids in this guest post. While many of the recommendations below are great for select children and parents, some accommodations or exceptions may be made for children with learning challenges and learning disabilities.
For Einstein, creativity was the most important thing that the human brain could do. In fact, he even thought that scientist were artists in the way they use creative thinking to solve problems. While you may not be the next greatest physicist on earth, you will have to agree that creativity holds the key to human evolution. Besides, it makes people happy too, so there’s nothing wrong with creative thinking! However, it can be difficult to understand the importance of creativity exactly and to see how Albert Einstein was right about this incredible ability of the human brain. In truth, creativity is a complex and structured phenomenon.
What Is Creativity?
So, the big question to ask yourself is what is creativity. Creativity has four defined stages, as psychologists have discovered. Everything starts with a phase of preparation, during which people decide on the project they want to tackle. This will involve some research and planning to define what they want to achieve. Then comes the incubation stage, during which the idea simmers while you occupy yourself with something unrelated. It is about taking a step back to use your sensory systems. At the end of this stage comes the illumination, which is when you reach the “ah-ha” moment. At this stage, you feel ideas rushing through your brain. Finally, the verification process ends the creativity cycle. During this stage, you judge the result of your production and decide if you like it. As you can see, creativity follows a methodical path that remains the same for children and adults.
Where Can You Find It?
However, for most individuals, the creative process can be difficult to establish, either because elements in the chain of activities are underdeveloped – which can be tackled with further creative training – or because the environment is not suitable for creative support. To take an obvious example, a lot of kids experience difficulties to settle in a creative thinking pattern at school or university because they find the environment too stressful – this can be the case in crowded classrooms where there is no room for thoughts. More often than not these children are pushed aside of the education path and left to fail. However, there are options to help them develop their creative thinking freely, such as finding a friendly environment. This is exactly why community college is awesome because the small classes allow for a more intimate learning and the development of a stress-free and motivating context. Indeed, in most cases, a community college gives kids the perfect place to tackle their creative demons and embrace complex concepts.
What Does It Matter?
There is not denying that creative thinking represents a strong personal improvement. While it may not turn you into a better person, it gradually helps people to develop their personality and feel better about themselves. Additionally, creative thinking holds the future of our society. Being able to think outside the box to tackle challenges is a skill that continuously moves societies forward. Economic success and the resolution of social crisis depend on the human ability to use creative thinking for the best.
