As many of you may already know, keeping and maintaining a consistent schedule when it comes to your children is key. If we stop practicing and utilizing certain skills at home and at school, we lose them.
That is why we sometimes see kids falling behind or taking a step backward in their motor development during long vacations, school closures, summer breaks, or during other lifetime events.
All the hard work they put toward their overall development in the last few months at school, on the playground, at therapy sessions or in daycare centers could be lost within just a few short weeks.
That’s why during these critical times, it’s not only important to keep kids active, it’s essential to keep kids working on exercises and activities that “awaken” the brain for higher learning. If we don’t exercise the brain and the body, it won’t be as prepared when we are ready to learn.
So how can we encourage our kids to take part in purposeful movement activities that are not only fun, but work toward learning readiness?
We have compiled a great list from some of the most experienced and well-known Occupational Therapists (OTs) to keep your child learning, therapy sessions on point and developing those much-needed skills for brain-building.
