Use beginner ladder activities create windows of opportunity for purposeful movement that can help a child attend and focus in the classroom.

Ladder Activities for Balance

The Ladder Activity slide deck for beginners was created for parents and therapists who are ready help kids strengthen their balance and motor skills at home and in therapy sessions. This slide deck encourages parents and therapists to use floor ladders that are appropriate for honing a child’s balance skills.

Balance activities are often used to help kids attend and focus in the classroom and to improve postural development for reading and writing support. The activities in this ladder slide deck can be used in a home setting or within your in-person and online therapy sessions.

Use ladder activities in the following ways to help beginners gain better body control and motor skills:

  • Copy the stick figure to work on balance and coordination
  • Use a low level ladder that is safe and easy for the child to walk on as they perform each exercise.
  • Go through the slides one at a time to determine the level of the child and what balance skills they already have established.
  • Adjust ladder activities to make it easier or harder as the child perfects each exercise.
