Free St. Patrick’s Day Body Awareness Slide Deck
To help your child and students improve their body awareness skills, we have created this fun body awareness slide deck with a St. Patrick’s Day theme.
The St. Patrick’s Day Body Awareness slide deck was designed for parents, therapists and educators to help kids gain familiarity with their body in space. This body awareness slide deck primarily focuses on helping kids know and understand how the body moves and how body parts can coordinate with another.
Many children struggle with coordination skills and movement of the body. This slide deck can help kids build a stronger foundation for development and gross motor growth.
How can Body Awareness activities help?
As adults, we tend to move our bodies without even thinking about it. We bend down to pick a pencil off the floor, we clap our hands at concerts, and we turn our heads to see what made that noise behind us.
All of these skills were developed when we were children. However, there are many kids who don’t develop these important body awareness skills automatically. Some kids require help when learning where the body is in relation to the space around them.
Why is this important?
You’d be surprised at how the simplest movements can impact a child’s future learning ability. A simple movement like lifting the head to copy notes off the chalkboard may not come naturally to some children. Lifting the head up and down requires body awareness.
Kids who have trouble with body awareness may:
- Struggle with personal boundaries (always talking too close)
- Run into furniture and other children
- Can’t recognize how close or how far their body is to other objects
- Can’t mimic movements
- Avoids physical Activity
Body awareness activities are not only important for helping kids develop their coordination skills, they can also help kids’ complete tasks. If a child’s movement is limited, simple tasks like putting their shoes on, grabbing something off the table and following directions is not easy.
Simple body awareness exercises, especially those that require the kids to follow directions, can help the child or student grow in their physical and academic development.
