Free Winter Visual Closure Activity Packet
This article provides helpful winter visual closure activities for improving visual closure and visual processing skills. Integrated Learning Strategies (ILS) is a learning and academic center. As a reminder, ILS is not a health care provider and none of our materials or services provide a diagnosis or treatment of a specific condition or learning challenge you may see in your child or student. If you seek a diagnosis or treatment for your child or student, please contact a trained professional who can provide an evaluation of the child.
This winter, we created a packet specially designed for those kids who struggle with visual closure. You’d be surprised at how many children have trouble visually processing information they see on the page or within their environment.
This Winter Visual Closure packet is a great resource for therapists, parents and educators who have children who can’t process information through their visual system.
The winter packet provides kids with fun and playful activities that give them a chance to match-up the right pieces and complete the patterns.
What are Visual Closure Skills?
If a child has trouble with visual closure, they often have a hard time identifying parts when an object or piece is missing. For example, if part of a picture is missing, a child may not know what the object is in the picture.
Visual closure issues are more common than you think. Children often have difficulty completing patterns and even identifying letters and numbers.
Participating in visual closure activities gives kids the opportunity to sharpen their visual skills by matching and completing the winter puzzles.

The Winter Visual Closure packet provides kids with three of the same images, cut in three separate ways. The child must complete the pattern using their visual closure skills to match the correct pattern with each image.
Many of these activities encourages children to use their visual processing skills to strengthen those areas of development for reading and writing. Activities, like the ones in this activity packet, prepare kids for writing letters, sequencing, completing patterns and processing the information they see through their visual system.
An older child may even benefit from the activity packet if they struggle with basic visual concepts or if their skills are delayed. The free PDF activity packet is a digital copy only and can be saved directly to your computer or hard drive.
After the activity packet is saved, use the digital copy to print and re-print copies so the child can perform the exercises multiple times. Or, the activity packet can be used for multiple students.
