Rewiring the Brain Bundle Building a Strong Foundation for Emotional Grounding

This article provides important information for the Rewiring the Brain Bundle that supports a child’s foundation for emotional grounding. Integrated Learning Strategies (ILS) is a learning and academic center. As a reminder, ILS is not a health care provider and none of our materials or services provide a diagnosis or treatment of a specific condition or learning challenge you may see in your child or student. If you seek a diagnosis or treatment for your child or student, please contact a trained professional who can provide an evaluation of the child.

Are you looking for something to help your child or students with big emotions that just don’t make sense? If you are, I’m very excited to share with you the Rewiring the Brain Bundle. The Rewiring the Brain bundle was created for parents, therapists and teachers to help kids build neural connections in their brain for emotional grounding.

The Rewiring the Brain Handbooks provide kids with repetitive handwriting exercises, tracing activities and doodling activities designed to improve emotions, behavior, muscle memory and impulse control.

Big emotions, tantrums and meltdowns can be tricky to navigate. Sometimes emotional moments are age-appropriate, but sometimes they just don’t seem normal or make sense. In some cases, kids may experience emotional outbursts that last for long periods of time with no end in sight. It’s difficult for them to self-regulate on their own, and as hard as you try, calming them down seems impossible.

Why handwriting for Emotional Grounding?

When kids are prone to these types of emotional irregularities, it’s possible there is some type of disconnection in the brain. If the right and left sides of the brain aren’t talking to each other, it often creates gaps in emotional development and the child’s learning ability. Kids may get “stuck” on the right side of their brain (emotional side), causing out-of-the ordinary meltdowns.

Incorporating repetitive handwriting strokes in the child’s routine can “rewire” the brain to fill those gaps. These types of exercises bridge the left and right sides of the brain together for more emotional maturity. This way, kids can focus more on higher learning concepts rather than regulating their emotions on a regular basis.

How does the Rewiring the Brain Bundle help?

Each handbook within the Rewiring the Brain bundle is geared toward kids at a different level. Kids should work with the handbooks based on their emotional and handwriting level, not by age. Even teens could benefit from a beginning level if they are not emotionally grounded.

The Rewiring the Bundle was designed to help kids who may experience:

  • Anxiety
  • Fight or Flight
  • Attention and Focus issues
  • Sensory Processing Disorders
  • Excessive tantrums and meltdowns
  • Lack of impulse control
  • Trouble completing tasks
  • Delayed handwriting, fine motor development and hand-eye coordination
  • Problems with remembering details and information

Multi-sensory handwriting exercises helps kids make a smooth transition to left-brained (more logical) thinking so their emotions don’t run their whole day.

Who was the bundle designed for?

The Rewiring the Brain Bundle was created for children of all ages and can be administered by therapists, parents, teachers and educators.

Therapists can use the handbooks as part of their in-therapy sessions, especially when working on fine motor skills and handwriting. The handbooks will serve a dual purpose for both handwriting development and emotional grounding.

Parents who are desperate to help their kids with emotional regulation and behavior can use the handbooks at home with one ore multiple children. Rewiring the Brain can help kids at home and school so their emotions don’t run the entire household. It will also help kids feel more secure and stable within their environment.

Teachers and educators can use these handbooks for emotional kids within their classrooms. Kids who struggle with behaviors and attention issues will also benefit. When it comes to classroom learning, you may not be able to help kids individually when you are trying to teach new concepts to an entire classroom of children. The handbooks allow you to engage individual kids in handwriting exercises while concepts continue to be taught in class. The exercises will also “hardwire” the brain for concentrating and listening better within a classroom setting.
